Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy is a treatment used for common skin conditions including:

    • Warts
    • Moles
    • Verrucas
    • Skin tags
    • Solar keratosis
    • Small skin cancer

It involves the use of liquid nitrogen which is an extremely cold liquified gas that is sprayed onto skin. It freezes living tissue it comes into contact with.

After a liquid nitrogen treatment, the lesion being treated such as a wart will gradually discolour and fall off. The surrounding skin will sometimes become red and swollen and may be sore for a day or so. Occasionally a blister may form. New skin quickly forms and any scab or blister will soon disappear. The cosmetic result is usually good.
